9 Ways leaders ruin good employees. This is the topic I have rarely seen people saying that I am a bad leader. You will find people saying I was a bad student; I was bad something or bad something else.

But everybody thinks that he/she is a very good leader. I don’t know why? But that’s the nature of leadership. 9 Ways leaders Ruin Good Employees.

Today I will share my experience. I have worked with both, absolutely with some great leaders and with absolutely lousy leaders. 9 Ways leaders ruin good employees.

Believe me, friends, leadership is such a topic that has been researched until death. That’s the beauty of leadership. We still don’t have the magic portion and the secret sauce of leadership.

9 Ways leaders ruin good employeesMy experience says and I believe that at the core of any successful Organization/Institution is an inspired leader.  A leader who can motivate their team to perform at their full potential.

It is often seen the reason for the failure/downfall of any organization/institution is a display of poor leadership or shrewd leadership.

Below are a few ways for business leaders to get in the way of their employees. Stop them from becoming their most successful, creative, and optimistic selves.

1. HOLDING MEETINGS WITH INSULTS

Ways leaders ruin good employeesEmployees want you to show appreciation. their efforts value their contributions. Meetings need to generate value for employees. Ways such as brainstorming ideas, decision-making, or organizing research.

Leaders who are ungrateful towards their employees will find it difficult to start their engagement on a positive note. Putting you down or insulting employees is their natural tendency.

2. FAIL TO COMMUNICATE

One thing makes it very clear that the culture of healthy communication has to be initiated by the leaders.

A leader’s failure of communication destroy trust in the organization. The challenge is to fix an authentic & transparent culture rather than egoistic culture of communication. Leaders display by not replying to emails or messages.

A leader’s failure in communication in a workplace creates conflict in relationships, low morale in employees, negative communication, misinformation, rumors, etc. This can bring added stress in the organization, high manpower turnover, lack of teamwork.

3. THREAT OF TERMINATION OF SERVICES

There are many circumstances where it has been observed that leaders threatened their employees with the termination of their services.

These types of leaders will never find reasons to discuss awards & recognition. They will only find reasons to demotivate their employees by threats.

4. STARTING THE DAY WITH NEGATIVITY

Leaders should be very careful before starting their day in office. Research says that start their day with bad behaviors resulted in a minimum 10% loss in their productivity.

Such behavioral trends of leaders restrict employees to connect with their boss. These temperamental issues in leaders, restrict all stakeholders to openly discuss the projects at length.

5. ZERO POWER DELEGATION

I have observed it very closely with the traditional type of industries and their leader’s mentality. They think it is a waste of time to delegate because they feel they can do a better job.

But no matter how good or how qualified they may be, or they may think. Organizations always need teams to get things done effectively consistently. This is the basic phenomenon of any organization/Institution.

These traditional leaders feel insecure in delegating powers to their subordinates. Leaders don’t let the team know what is expected from them in clear and precise terms.

6. NOT INVESTING IN TRAINING

Hiring employees is an expensive process. Therefore, companies MUST always invest in the training and development of employees properly.

Employee training is a very important factor to take the organization to the next level. It has been observed that it is been highly ignored by any organization.

If a training, development, growth is missing from any organization.  Difficult to retain skilled manpower due to no up-gradation in their skills & career.

Regular upgrading software team, sales team, technical team by routine training is paramount important for any organization.

7. RESTRICTIONS ON INITIATIVES

Some leaders restrict on their teams to take initiative in the organization. They think whatever decisions they are taking is the best for the company.

They never appreciate the new ideas. Middle management team members have to make a lot of decisions every day. Surprisingly those decisions are never welcomed.

Leaders expect that their team should work like a puppet & dance on their orders.

8. CONSPIRACY AGAINST EMPLOYEES

Employees are the Perfect Victims of any conspiracy of leaders. Everything that goes wrong is the result of someone else being misbehavior, insulting attitude, false allegations getting in their way.

You’re in for a tough time and you’re the Perfect Victim. You’re probably dealing with habitual behaviors of leaders that have worked for years and are still ON.

9. CRITICIZING WITHOUT PRAISING

All of us make mistakes, and it’s pointed out easily. They aren’t suppose to blame employees or to deflect negative outcomes from their performance.

Leaders believe that it’s so easy to criticize other people, and hard to give a single honest compliment. It’s so easy to see yourself in perfection mode, and at the same time focus on the imperfections of other people.

FOR YOU

Good employees are indispensable to the organization, but it has been shown that bad leaders are destroying the company’s culture in many cases employers/Directors of the company are responsible.

To make much clear understanding leadership is like a waterfall, if dirty water is falling from the top it will paralyze the entire culture. Same if, clean water is falling from the top it will reflect a great culture in the organization.

Poor leadership was felt throughout the entire organization.  The purpose of the corporate culture is defeated where leaders claim it exists while employees shake their heads in frustration.

There is a lack of clear, consistent, respectable, communication from leadership to the employees. If found such management immediately take your decision and cut your losses.
