HR research is the systematic process of gathering and analyzing data to evaluate and improve human resource practices, policies, and performance. It helps organizations make informed decisions by understanding trends, addressing challenges, and ensuring compliance. Common approaches include using statistical and comparative methods, relying on outside expertise, or checking for legal and policy compliance.

Types of HR research

·       Statistical approach:

Analyzes existing data to create standards and identify errors or areas for improvement.

·       Comparative approach:

Compares an organization's performance with another to find areas needing improvement.

·       Outside authority approach:

Uses expertise from consultants or published research to set standards for evaluation.

·       Compliance approach:

Checks for deviations from company policies and legal regulations using data from HR information systems.
